The system memory management unit (SMMU) supports memory virtualization and access protection of peripherals and memory. The main functions of the SMMU include:
- Address translation unit confines memory space
- Transaction security state control
- Memory and peripheral access protection
These functions are performed with a combination of the translation buffer units (TBU 0 to n). These are in the path of incoming AXI interfaces outside of the FPD to the CCI . The translation and protection tables that are cached in the TBU are updated by the SMMU translation control unit (TCU).
