Slave cores have a CDC FIFO depth of 16, and do not need as large of a FIFO depth because the reference clock is recovered from the received data. Therefore the Read and Write clocks of the CDC FIFO do not drift.
In CPRI Slave cores the CDC FIFO is implemented in distributed RAM.
