If an interface requires clock domain crossing, then two clocks are needed to handle the decouple signal.

Source side
If the core has an AXI control or status interface, then its clock, aclk, will be used. If not, then a new clock port called decouple_ref_clk is created.
Destination side
  • If the interface being decoupled is AXI and an AXI clock is needed, then the interface gets a clock called <interface name>_aclk, which is used for the sychronizer.
  • Otherwise, a clock port called <interface name>_ref_clk is created.
