The TX path performs the serialization from application data of width 12, 14, or 16 to single-bit data for each lane. Serialization is performed in two steps.

- The TX Gearbox converts the data from application data to 8-bit data.
- Serialization in PHY
- The PHY serializes the 8-bit data from gearbox into single-bit data.
