In the Vivado IDE, you can select an alternative text editor as follows:
- Select .
- In the Settings dialog box Text Editor page, select an alternate editor from the
Current Editor drop-down list.
When you select an editor from the list, an executable name appears in the settings. The path to the executable needs to be in your path. See the appropriate Windows or Linux documentation for help on how to add a path to your environment.Figure 1. Settings Dialog Box—Text Editor Page
If your editor is not listed, select Custom Editor. In the Custom Editor Definition dialog box, enter the name or location of the executable and the command line syntax used to run the editor.Tip: When using an alternative text editor, cross probing works differently. The file opens in the external editor but does not go to the line number automatically.
